Our story

It began with a community centre, not a campus

Kabayan Center Philippines was founded in Hong Kong in 1985 by Dr. Angel T. Ramos as an organisation for Filipinos living and working in the city — offering legal assistance and a place of refuge for migrant workers in distress.

In 1988 the centre began teaching livelihood courses — computing, dressmaking, culinary arts — so that workers would return home with a skill. By 1990, KCP Holdings had been formed as its corporate arm, and the classroom has been at the centre of everything since.

To see a humble contract worker emerge as a university graduate, a licensure passer, a registered professional teacher — that is the whole of our work.

Today the group runs registered schools and colleges in Hong Kong and Macau, with representative offices reaching Seoul and Yokohama, and it remains what it has always been: Filipino-owned, and open to everyone.

The group

Five institutions, one purpose

Each school in the group is registered with the authority that matters for the qualification it awards — so what you earn here counts when you go home, or go further.

Capstone College

Hong Kong · Macau · Seoul · Yokohama

Registered with the Hong Kong Education Bureau in 1996 as South Bend International School and renamed in 2006. Its Secondary 3–6 courses have been qualified for the UK-based IGCSE examinations since 2006.

Capstone Education Center

Central & Yuen Long, Hong Kong

The group's adult learning arm: Alternative Learning System, senior high school, caregiving and short courses, with weekday, weekend and home-study schedules built around a working week.

Bintang Nusantara School

For Indonesian workers in Hong Kong

Registered with the Education Bureau in 2006 to run SMP and SMA programmes. Students sit the Ujian Nasional twice a year in Hong Kong, and have passed at a rate of 99% in both examinations.

Oxfordian Colleges

Oxford–Philippines International School

Partner in the group's international accreditation programmes, allowing vocational and certificate study already completed elsewhere to be credited towards a full college qualification.

KCP Consultants Macau

Macau · with Langlow Education

Opened in late 2015 as the group's Macau representative office, bringing the full range of KCP programmes to workers and residents there, with satellite offices planned for Singapore and Seoul.

In partnership with

University of Luzon (College of Education and College of Business Administration), the Hong Kong Examinations and Assessments Authority, and the Philippine Department of Education's Alternative Learning System.

Six questions worth asking

Training is not all equal, and the difference only shows up years later, at the moment it matters most. Ask these of us, and of anyone else.

  1. Is it a registered school, or only a training centre?

KCP institutions are registered with the Hong Kong Education Bureau. A training centre cannot award credit that a university or an employer abroad will recognise.

  2. Does the training carry credit units?

Ours do, and they are stated on your record. Hours of attendance alone are not units.

  3. Does your transcript show grades?

A transcript that says only “Passed” is thin evidence. Ours carries a grade for every subject.

  4. Did you perform a supervised return demonstration?

Skills are assessed by doing them in front of an instructor, for the hours the programme requires.

  5. Do you have the 72 units an overseas application needs?

This is the quiet reason many applications fail. We package the units so you reach the threshold.

  6. Can you afford it while working?

Classes are capped at 15 students, run on weekdays and weekends, and tuition is payable monthly.

It should be legitimate, and it should be true.
